
Somer February is an artist from Johannesburg, South Africa.
Somer made her professional debut in 2019 with the KMAD Dance Company under direction of Kelsey Middleton before relocating to the United States to begin her studies at the Boston Conservatory at Berklee, receiving the Alwin Nikolais/Murray Louis named scholarship. Here, she trained closely with professors Kurt Douglas, Brian McGinnis, Ruka Hatua-saar, Anthony Burrell, Russell Clarke, Marissa Parmenter and more.
She has performed new works by Aszure Barton, T.Lang, Levi Marsman, Joy Davis, Brian McGinnis, Christopher Kinsey and repertoire by Paul Taylor and Jawole Willa Jo Zollar.
After graduating she performed with the Contemporary West Dance Theatre before she left the United States.
In 2024, she was selected as part of the Biennale College Danza at the La Biennale di Venezia under direction of Wayne McGregor in Venice, Italy. She performed three new works by Golden Lion recipient, Cristina Capriolli, Recuerdo no.7 and Wayne McGregor alongside Company Wayne McGregor.
She has guest performed with Mzansi Ballet in Johannesburg, South Africa and Lugano, Switzerland where she performed in Song of KHUDUGO by esteemed South African choreographer, Vincent Mantsoe. Currently, she is a Company Artist with Anderson Carvalho Dance & Choreography and a Seasonal Artist with Joburg Ballet.
